In The Night

"In The Night"

i'm the terror in the night
bleed through the cracks in your shoes
i'm the terror in the night
i'll shake the Hell out of you

2,000 ways to say no
but 300 ways to stand straight
i'm not the people you know
we're gonna go my way

there's too many
too many soldiers to fight
you need to narrow it down
keep it low, down out of sight
not now!
not now! [x4]

i'm the terror in the night
bleeding 'cause none of it is true
i'm the terror in the night
i'll take my fear out on you

2,000 ways to say no
but 300 ways to stand straight
i'm not the people you know
we're gonna go my way

there's too many
too many soldiers to fight
you need to narrow it down
keep it low, down out of sight
not now!
not now! [x4]

i'm the terror in the night
i bleed 'cause all of it's true
i'm the terror in the night
i'm falling right into you

Not Another Song About California

"Not Another Song About California"

well i've been in in California for about a year
and i'm trying to figure out what i'm doing here
every single person that i happen to meet
doesn't ever seem to feel complete
they're all so flawless
makes me feel so hopeless

*get me out of
California
i'm feeling restless
and i can't take it
there is something
out there for me
i've gotta find it
and i think you got it*

well it's taken several days, but i've figured it out
i'm beginning to see what it's all about
everybody's chasing what they could do without
i was running 'till i tripped and now i just want out!
i'll miss the sunsets
but they're hard to forget

*get me out of
California
i'm feeling restless
and i can't take it
there is something
out there for me
i've gotta find it
and i think you got it*

i just want to go back home
at least i wouldn't feel so alone
i'm sure i'll be back in a year or two
but i gotta come home 'cause i'm missing you

From Something To Nothing

"From Something To Nothing"

she wears high heels
but lives a low life
choking on her spoon
and believing every lie
daddy worked the banks
and momma worked the streets
a childhood full of hate
but she always had food to eat
you can't have something for nothing
daddy always used to say
but she traded her soul
so she could go out and play
momma gave her the world
but she never had the time
such a pretty little girl
she never even had to try
she lost herself
under a mountain of diamonds
she found herself
in the mirror she fell on
she wears high heels
but lives a low life
choking on her spoon
and believing every lie

Life is a Desert

"Life is a Desert"

Life is a desert. You get to a point when all you can do is keep walking. And even though you know the lakes and rivers in the distance are just mirages, you can only hope that one day, if you walk far enough, one of them will finally be real.

Life is like a desert. Where there's heat, there is always a dark storm looming over head. And even though you long for the rain to quench your thirst, you know that each time it storms, it becomes harder and harder to survive.

Life is a desert. It's hot and dry in the day and cold and dry at night. And even though the night feels close to death, the rising sun of the next day reminds you that death is not the end. In fact, it's just the beginning.

In The Afterlife

"In The Afterlife"

if i died today
i'd come back as a river
i'd flood the city you sleep in
a flood that lasts forever

if i see you tomorrow
i'd like to spit in your face
i'd stain your shirt with blood
but never leave a trace

*i don't believe
i don't believe
i don't believe
in the afterlife*

if i died today
i'd come back as a cloud
i'd hover over your head
and then i'd strike you down

*i don't believe
i don't believe
i don't believe
in the afterlife*

if you see me tomorrow
don't come walking my way
i might become a tornado
and you'd be swept away

i might become a tornado
and then you'd be swept away

The Truth About Forgiveness

"The Truth About Forgiveness"

fools play a number
games they hate to lose
He never did what He told her
she still waited for proof
but she couldn't feel him anymore
curled up on the bathroom floor
and the sound of stale music
made her ears feel sore
the dim lights offered no comfort
the walls felt colder than they were before
if time's a reel, it's not working
she's tired of bleeding and choking
he left her chained to the ceiling
had nothing to do with believing
but she couldn't feel him anymore
curled up on the bedroom floor
and the sound of his footsteps
made her head feel sore
light from the sun turned her elbows red
but she just welcomed the change
he never claimed to forgive and forget
he just remains the same
he just remains the same
he just remains the same
he just remains the same

The Step Father

"The Step Father"

these dreams of mine
threaten your empire
if you can't sleep, no one sleeps
these beasts live in your eyes
the fourth beast is your kingdom
horns with eyes, waging war
you'll never know of everlasting freedom
that's what your bronze claws are for
these lions were created in power
with wings like eagle's to soar
on two legs, making you man
it's all part of a greater plan
for heads, four wings
and eyes born aflame
iron teeth to crush kings
this beast has many names
unspeakable are these atrocities
but wide are his arms
your armada hides in the city
i stand where your hands are
immigrants flee, the sun is beating down
do they know their fear fabricates his crown?
i'm lost at sea, i hear no sound
drowning along with the spray all around

give me wings and i'll take flight
give me ground and i'll stand and fight
take back the dark and i'll give you light
take back my heart and i'll be in your sights
